What is the World Guitar Record? The annual guitar festival is most of all an occasion for collective play, meetings and exchange of experience, and during this event, an attempt to break the Guinness record is made.

The World Guitar Record has a new date – we meet on 19 June at the Pergola in Wrocław and online!

Guitarists of the world, community centres and guitar schools unite! The World Guitar Record has announced the official date of the event: the 19th edition of one of the greatest guitar music festivals will take place on 19 June at Wrocław's Pergola – part of the Centennial Hall complex, as well as online.

The Pergola is a place well known to the Record participants – every year it holds concerts of music stars that accompany the festival. The new date and location ensure that the event can be organised safely and in compliance with the pandemic-related regulations. The most important thing is that we will be able to meet in Wrocław. This year's venue of the Guitar Record is a temporary change introduced solely for safety reasons – next year the event will return to the Wrocław Market Square.

Safety at the Pergola

We have many years of experience in producing large-scale music events, also in challenging conditions. The safety measures taken for the concerts at the Pergola during the pandemic and our collaboration with sanitary services have been recognised by the Wrocław authorities as exemplary. The guitar celebrations will therefore be held in accordance with existing sanitary regulations, respecting the necessary restrictions. Throughout the event we will follow the slogan 'Distance – Disinfection – Mask'. Depending on the restrictions in force, the number of participants at the Pergola may be subject to certain limitations, which is why we encourage you to join us online.

We play in the windows, gardens and on balconies

In 2020, the Guitar Record was held entirely online. As many as 7,998 guitarists from all over the world gathered to play Hey Joe from their homes, gardens and balconies. The participants submitted over 5,000 photos and videos, and the concert broadcast attracted a total of over 110 thousand viewers, from Poland to Spain to the UK and the United States.. This year will be no different. – Music has no borders. We want to ensure that everyone who will not be able to come to Wrocław can join the record-breaking. This time we are beating the world record, so we are counting on active participation of community centres, guitar schools and all guitar fans, from Wroclaw to Zanzibar, says Leszek Cichoński, the founder of the event.

Cichoński's students' rally

2021 marks 30 years since Leszek Cichoński published his course Blues-Rock Guitar Workshop, which has become a true bible for several generations of guitarists. On this occasion, on 19 June, the Guitar Record will see a rally of the guitar orchestra leader's pupils and students who have used his iconic textbook. Share your guitar stories on the festival's social media and the group https://www.facebook.com/groups/uczniowie.leszka.cichonskiego. Various prizes are waiting for you, the greatest of them being the opportunity to take the main stage during the World Guitar Record.
